Since the formation of Indian Republic, it has been under the disposal of the Muncipal Corporation. Now it is converted to art museum with modern facility re-quired for showcasing works of art. Shanghumugham Art Museum wishes to func-tion and develop as an important centre for contemporary art practices with a view to widen the frontiers of our artistic culture through the participation of larger audi-ence to keep contemporary art and culture more meaningful, more active.

The Shangumugham Art Museum is financially supported and administered by the Municipal Corporation of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India.
